MINUTES OF MEETING 11/10/04

The meeting was held at the Hallie Golf Clubhouse with the attendance of approximately 16 or so members.

The meeting opened up with the treasurer’s report. We started our account with $500 in June and from this has been expended an amount of $105.50 for cards and posters, and $50 for the first six months of website costs. This leaves us with a balance at this time of $470.90.

Next was a recap of the 2004 season. (An excellent first season!). Members commented on the great first season and the many adventures that were had. Wednesday paddles were held through the summer right up until the end of October. There were even some diehards who managed to paddle this past Saturday on the Flambeau. Ken is in the process of putting together a video of many of the trips in which he will present at a later meeting.

Discussion was held regarding how to obtain a logo for the club. It was voted on to offer a contest for a design to be posted on the website and for Brenda and Mary to offer it to their respective classes. The winner of the design will be given a $50 cash prize. All entries are to be sent to Jon Brutlag and must be submitted by March 1, 2005. Please check the website for additional details.

Brenda is looking into training for the spring at UW Stout. The date of the event would be January 22 at the UW Stout pool held by Stout Adventures. It will be a certification course for sea kayaking. This would allow members to rent sea kayaks from Stout or from an outfitter in Bayfield. You would also be able to rent additional gear if needed from Stout as well. Along with this session there may be offered a Wilderness First Aid course. Details are still being worked out. Cost for the sessions would be $15 for the safety course and possibly a total of $30 for both.

June 5 – Namekagon River – Patty Leader

June 18 – St Croix – Tom Leader

July 21- moonlight paddle?

August 13-14 – Jim Falls Dam Run

August 20-21 – Superior trip w/camping on an island

September 17-19 Wisconsin River

It was voted on to keep our meetings to the 2^nd Wednesday of the month. The next meetings will be held on January 12, February 9, March 9, April 13. The Jan, Feb, March meetings will be held at the Hallie Golf Clubhouse at 7 PM and the April meeting will be determined later as it may be our first paddle of the season.

Dues are to remain at $15.00.
